POEM: NOW THAT YOU'RE GONE
[By: Bridget E. Ukeni]

Tell me what to do now that you're gone.
C'mon tell me what to do now your small ears are gone.
Do I give up on love or kneel and pray for your return?

Tell me what to do with all this loneliness.
Tell me what to do without your love and all its tenderness.
Do I cry, do I scream, do I sit with this pain in its endlessness?

Now that you're gone.
O' now that you're gone!
Do I dream of the good old days when we played in the sun?

When the night's grey.
When the night hides the moon away.
Do I dream of the Sundays when we danced the night away?

When I want you to pour your love on me.
When I want your love like 90s soul and midsummer blues.
Then I wake and I turn and I remember that you're gone.

My friends say when it comes to love, I'm so damn strong.
That when it comes to love, I move on right along.
How do I tell 'em my heart's been singing blues since you been gone?

With the tears tucked behind, I tell my friends I don't want you no more.
With a nod and a shrug, I tell all my friends I don't want you no more.
But when they're gone, I curl alone in bed and I wish you were here curling next to me.

Tell me what to do now that you're gone.
C'mon tell me what to do now your soft kisses are gone.
Do I give up on love or fight for your return?

I'll take the midnight train down to your city.
I'll take the dusty old train that goes by your city.
I'll find my way to your doorstep, I'll find my way to your heart.

If you hear a knock that's me at the door.
If you hear a knock knock it's really me at the door.
When you hear that knock please come open up.

I'm at your door, please come open up.
Baby, it's really me at your door please come open up.
You know I'm at your door, why won't you open up?

You don't want my love, you say you never did.
You don't want my love, how can you say you never did?
You don't want my love, you say you've found someone else to give.

I know what to do now that you're gone.
O' I know what I have to do now your sweet sweet love is gone.
I won't give up on love, I'll keep fighting, fighting for your return.
